Microsoft VP of .NET architecture says they will announce support for JQUERY in .NET and Silverlight at the PDC show in LA later this month.jQuery is a fast and concise JavaScript Library that simplifies HTML document traversing, event handling, animating, and Ajax interactions for rapid web development.

One of the biggest upsides say Scott is the size of the library, its a Lightweight Footprint About 15KB in size (Minified and Gzipped).

Stay tune for the live announce from the event later this month, and if you need some RIA work done in Silverlight, Flex, YUI, JSF, or JAX, drop me an email for a quote on your next project.

The Money Trail-September 29, 2008

Venture capital investment in India more than doubled in the second quarter after a relatively level amount of money moved into start-ups there in the past few quarters. Investors poured $237.6 million across 17 deals in the three months ended June 30, compared with $108 million and 12 deals in the same period a year ago, according to data released recently from VentureSource, a unit of VentureWire publisher Dow Jones & Co.

Since the first quarter of 2007 when venture capitalists flooded India with $436 million spread across 41 deals, investment had held rather steady at an average of $118 million through the first quarter of 2008. The latest second-quarter jump can be partly attributed to a $70 million second-round investment in Laqshya Media, a Mumbai-based provider of out-of-home media advertising services.

Even with this second-quarter pop, investment is still down through the first six months of the year versus 2007 because of last year’s first-quarter abnormality. Investors have put $360.5 million in 35 deals in the first half, compared with $544 million and 46 deals in the year-earlier period. Looking to gain an edge in the growing market for recycling electronic waste, Attero Recycling raised $6.3 million from venture capital firms NEA-Indo US Ventures and Draper Fisher Jurvetson.

Noida, India-based Attero said it would use this money to expand its business and, more specifically, establish a 100,000 sqare foot e-waste recycling facility in Roorkee, India. The company is looking to recycle computers, cellphones, network gear, televisions and other electronic waste in an environmentally friendly way.

Google’s $6.25 million investment in AltaRock was part of a larger $26.25 million financing, which included investments from the venture capital firms Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Khosla Ventures, Advanced Technology Ventures and Vulcan Capital. Meanwhile, Redwood City, Calif.-based Potter Drilling Inc. raised $4 million from Google.

Microsoft Announces Acquisition of Navic Networks

REDMOND— Microsoft Corp. announced the acquisition of Navic Networks, a leading provider of television advertising solutions. Navic’s technologies include sophisticated campaign management tools that use relevant data to optimize the delivery and placement of targeted interactive television media and through Admira provide a unified ad network for targeting audiences across television advertising inventory. With the addition of Navic solutions, Microsoft’s comprehensive advertising platform will be able to facilitate enhanced digital advertising across online and offline environments.

“Television media represents the largest percentage of advertisers and agencies’ media budget today,” said Brian McAndrews, senior vice president of the Advertiser and Publisher Solutions Group at Microsoft. “Together, Navic and Microsoft will deliver addressable television advertising solutions to help our partners better manage media spend by increasing advertiser reach and ROI, and maximizing publisher yield on television advertising.”

With this acquisition, Navic Networks becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of Microsoft and will join Microsoft’s Advertiser and Publisher Solutions (APS) Group, the group responsible for Microsoft’s comprehensive advertising platform that spans all digital media including television and video advertising. The APS Group includes Atlas, a pioneer of Video-On-Demand advertising solutions.

Linden and IBM break the METAVERSE Barriers with “OPENGRID”

This is a BIG day for Second Life, and for virtual worlds in general. IBM and Linden Lab of San Francisco have announced that research teams from the two companies successfully “tele-ported” avatars from the Second Life Preview Grid into a virtual world running on an Open Sim server.

Just As the name suggests, the Open Grid Protocol used in the project enables interoperability between virtual worlds. With this experiment, we’ve taken a first step toward not just interconnecting Second Life with other virtual worlds, but other virtual worlds with one another.

It is not clear yet if users will be allowed to “tele-port” virtual goods from one world to another yet, but I am sure virtual lawyers are already exploring the possibilities.

ZeeVee TV helps make HD easy with “Localcasting”

ZTV

Start Up ZeeTV is not just another media box, or set top box maker. The start-up company just announced a box that will allow users to broadcast high-def web video and other computer content to any HDTV in the house.

The box hooks to the monitor output of your computer, broadcasts to an HD channel called Zv, and then streams via the cable wiring in your home. It’s like adding a new channel to your cable lineup. The company says this technique opens up a whole new category of content delivery, dubbed “localcasting.”

To put it simply, the ZVBox allows you to connect your desktop pc to evey TV in the house by creating its own channel (RF) that is picked up by the tuner which is built in your TV set already.

Here a little info to help you get a clear picture:

-PC’s content transported over VGA which is then sent through your coaxial cabling to every Tv in your home

-VGA pass-through ensures your PC monitor continues to operate normally

-Audio (Including Dolby Digital 5.1) is inputted via USB

-No equipment is needed at the TV end for reception; all signals are recieved from the TV’s QAM-capable internal tuner

The ZvBox is now available exclusively at Amazon.com. It began shipping on June 30.
